The Studio Project
The Studio Project is a newly established artists studio at Studio Voltaire in London. A group of artists with learning disabilities from Lambeth are working with Intoart artists to develop their own artwork. Based in their own studio space, the studio artists are developing self-directed work leading up to an exhibition of their work in the main gallery at Studio Voltaire in June 2007. The six month programme of workshops, self-directed work, research in galleries and debate about the work made by the studio artists will be documented in The Studio Project book, published in Autumn 2007 isbn 9780948835469. The studio artists are working with artists and designers to develop the content and form of the book and are currently documenting their artwork on the Intoart website in the ‘Studio Weblog’ pages. The book will include essays by Kit Hammonds curator at South London Gallery and Rachel Anderson Head of Interaction at Artangel. This new project further develops the partnerships that Intoart has built with The Rathbone Centre, South London Gallery and Studio Voltaire and is funded by Arts Council England, Lambeth Community Fund and Awards For All.
